"Title proposed “Would you be seen wearing anything else?” I have been happily using Jahti Jakt products for many years, so when approached by Barry Johnston of Arctic Outdoor Clothing and asked to trial their first ever Snow cammo suit, I jumped at the chance. “Designed in Finland by experts in outdoor clothing and with the help of many European hunters, this top quality, hard wearing suit comes as a package with extras that will please even the most demanding hunter. The package is meant for all weather conditions and by varying the layer dressing, you will be comfortable in both extreme cold and warmer weather. In February of this year (2009) the whole of the UK suffered from the worst weather conditions for many years, sub-zero temperatures, cold winds and most importantly heavy snow, a perfect time to put it to the test. There had been a fresh fall of snow overnight and temperatures were just above freezing. I was unable to access the stalking ground in the vehicle due to the depth of the snow, so I would have to make the long uphill climb on foot. Fortunately the suit has lots of useful pockets, so I got loaded up and started off. With snow up to my knees it wasn’t long before I was working up a sweat. The suits New Air-Tex2 breathable membrane soon came in to its own, specially designed to allow your body to breath, while keeping you warm and dry. It certainly worked. I continued to slowly stalk up the track when I spotted a Roe Doe feeding along the edge of the trees some 200 metres away. In order to get closer I had to make my way up the track in full view of the animal that had now been joined by a young buck. The wind was in my favour so no need to rely on the Scentech Odour Blocking Technology, but now there were two sets of eyes watching for danger, I was sure to be spotted. However with its Patented Cammo design I was able to proceed undetected and get close enough to take the shot. The Doe dropped to the ground and the Buck, startled by the shot, came running down the hill, stopping less than 30 metres away, staring straight at me. I stood perfectly still, blending seamlessly into the background. Panic over he wandered off into the thicker trees.
